OppenheimerFunds committed $1 million in funding to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. Considering that the World Trade Center was OppenheimerFunds’ headquarters for nearly fifteen years and that our headquarters is now across the street from the site, it was important for the firm to demonstrate solidarity with its neighbors in rebuilding Lower Manhattan and creating a Memorial and Museum that will tell the 9/11 story to the millions of people who will visit in the years to come. Our partnership with the National September 11 Memorial & Museum will ensure that OppenheimerFunds is part of this legacy and will help to enhance the quality of life for all residents of Lower Manhattan, including our employees.
The Memorial & Museum are currently expected to open in 2011. The Memorial will be a special site for remembrance and reflection, consisting of two waterfall-filled voids that reside in the original footprints of the Twin Towers and are surrounded by a forest of oak trees.

Memorial & Museum
The National September 11 Memorial & Museum is the not-for-profit corporation dedicated to building, programming and operating the Memorial & Museum at the World Trade Center site. Its mission is to honor the lives lost in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and February 26, 1993, document the impact of those events on individual lives, and local, national and international communities, and explore the legacy of 9/11 for a world increasingly defined by global interdependency.
