OppenheimerFunds became the first Principal Sponsor of Project Rebirth in 2004 and committed $1 million in funding over the life of the project. Our support has been integral in continuing to increase awareness of Project Rebirth and broaden their fundraising scope in New York City and beyond.
Throughout 2008, Project Rebirth has continued its documentation of the Freedom Tower construction as well as updated interviews with the film’s subjects, preparing for an initial documentary release in 2010. Time-lapse filming will continue through the scheduled completion of the Freedom Tower in 2015.
Additionally, it was announced this year that proceeds from the "Project Rebirth" documentary will be reinvested to endow a Project Rebirth Center for victims of and first responders to events of traumatic loss. The Center’s mission was established to meet an urgent need to improve the specialized care and support needed during and after major disasters.

Project Rebirth is a non-profit organization that is chronicling through film the historic rebuilding of the World Trade Center site and the lives of ten people who were directly impacted by the events of 9/11. Decidedly uplifting, Project Rebirth’s mission is to help people learn from the nation’s resiliency after 9/11 and its ability to recover and rebuild.
